Case Study

Information Governance

To define and deliver an information governance strategy

Client: Multinational Power Company

Project:

Information Governance

Purpose:

To define and deliver an information governance strategy

Details:

Information Matters™ was asked by a multinational power company to define and deliver an information governance strategy for its UK Division. The work involved the assessment of current processes and the design of an information model describing how information should be structured and managed. The project was seen as the first step in a programme of activities to clarify processes, rationalise systems, and generally improve information governance.

The study considered 11 key information governance areas and the findings revealed areas of strength and weakness. The report made three sets of recommendations.

The first set concerned the principles of information governance; the second set considered what should be done immediately and in the first quarter and the third set concentrated on work to be done in the short to medium term.

A major outcome from the report was the description of a more formal information governance regime that had the potential to deliver real business benefits to the company.
