Client: UK University

Project:

Freedom of Information Act implementation programme

Details:

Information Matters™ were chosen to manage the University’s Freedom of Information Act implementation programme, and provided the University with an experienced interim records manager.

The requirement

It was essential that, prior to the nationwide implementation of the Freedom of Information Act in

2005, the University implemented a system which granted the public access to information held by the University. We provided consultancy and expertise around Freedom of Information and records management during the implementation period.

The University required interim records management expertise, to assess the status of the programme and report on findings, make recommendations, draw up plans and make proposals for the establishment of a new records management function. Equally important was to complete the programme in line with the compliance deadline, while providing the new permanent records manager with assistance and a thorough brief.

The solution

We provided the University with a solution that was tailor-made to meet their individual requirements.

Our expert consultancy services are designed to address a variety of information issues and our service to the University included:

  • a strategic review of records management capabilities and Freedom of Information preparedness
  • assistance with the establishment of a records management function
  • programme management in line with the Freedom of Information compliance deadline
  • bringing together, educating and developing a network of Freedom of Information practitioners across the University
  • briefing and assisting the new permanent records manager.
